The Applicant will access and complete the online application form. The Applicant will then need to make payment for the application either at a bank or online. Once payment has been made, the applicant will take the acknowledgement slip to the BIR representative in the licencing office for registration. The applicant will then proceed to the VIO officer within the licencing office for screening and approval. After this, an FRSC officer at the Information Processing Center will capture the applicant’s biometric information and issue a temporary drivers’ license which will be valid for 60 days. The driver’s licence will be available for collection within the 60 day period.

Request from fresh applicants will only be processed from June 1, 2011. In the interim, fresh applicants should attend accredited driving schools, which will be required to sponsor all fresh applicants for the new Driver’s License.

Based on the programme of the driving school attended, a second chance can be allowed for the driving course examinations.

You should be close to 18 years such that at the end of the driving course you are already 18 and qualified for a driver’s license. You also need to get a learner’s permit from the motor licensing authority

Yes, the process of getting a driver’s license has been tied to compulsory attendance of a driving school and passing the driving course examinations in order to get the certificate of training.

Once the certificate of training is obtained from a driving school , you can visit the frsc website or the driver’s license portal (www.nigeriadriverslicense.org) to fill the form, print the payment slip, pay at any prescribed bank, register details of payment in the motor licensing office and present these documents together with the certificate of training at driver’s license centre for biometric capture.
